The COFI Mountain Pine Beetle Task Force was formed in 1999 to help affected forest industry member companies and the Ministry of Forests work in a collaborative effort to increase public awareness, and to battle the beetles, now spread across an area over three-quarters the size of Sweden.
To make content transparent to visitors, the site features a simple on-view menu. Central to the site are sections that address two key questions: "How Severe is the Epidemic?", and "What’s Being Done?". Important Epidemic Expansion Facts and maps provide a clear picture of the scale of the infestation and its impacts. Other sections describe the numerous activities undertaken by industry and government to manage the beetle.
| Floatingrock composed a portion of the new descriptive text, in addition to completing a global reorganization of selected content from the original site. |

A new Action Timeline was developed to bring a new perspective to the spread of the beetle over time, and the industry’s aggressive response.
Design and layout allow for updates and additions to be easily accommodated, a requirement anticipated to be needed for some time. We are pleased to be able to provide this forum for the COFI Mountain Pine Beetle Task Force to spotlight the seriousness of the epidemic, and their important efforts in dealing with this unprecedented situation.
