Wood Culture Network Site Launched!
Date: 10/21/2002
Prince George, B.C.— Floatingrock.com Inc. is very pleased to announce the launch of an outstanding new website developed for the Wood Culture Network. This will be "Canada’s meeting place for Wood Champions, people who are proud of our wood industry and want to build with Wood!"
The Wood Culture Network is an initiative of Wood WORKS! British Columbia, which is in turn an initiative of the Canadian Wood Council. At its roots, the Network connects those that plan to build with wood, with the best experts available in design, architecture, engineering and consulting. They are working to showcase genuine Wood Champions - the people that make wood an important part of their businesses and lives. The Network is dedicated to building a Wood Culture, and sustainability for our resources and communities.
Their web application was developed with and is driven by Serenity, Floatingrock’s enterprise management system. Serenity allows the Network to access their custom designed SQL Server database, and make the content changes they need to at will in support of their mandate.
The site is geared to the user. It starts with a splash page, letting the visitor pick their category; Wood Expert, Leader, Decision Maker, or Wood Enthusiast. The selection then puts them on their chosen path, presenting the appropriate menus and relevant information.
Central to this resource is the Wood Experts Directory, a resource featuring those with the skills and expertise to build with wood, whether individuals or large companies. Wood Experts have the opportunity to register to be added to the Directory. They include architects, designers, engineers, quantity surveyors, builders, suppliers and manufacturers that are tops in their field, who include wood as a major part of their work, and come highly recommended by Wood WORKS!.
Another feature is the Celebrating Wood Showcase, spotlighting the use of wood in a number of trend-setting projects across the province and beyond. From ‘green’ building practices at the Sustainable Buildings 2002 conference in Oslo, Norway, to a stunning timber-framed covered bridge near Golden, BC, see wood’s potential in the hands of the Experts!
When it comes to building with wood, this site will be the major information gateway and the best starting point to find out more. For the full story and to take full advantage, visit the new Wood Culture Network site at www.woodchampions.com now!
